After its success last summer, the Little River Inn will be offering the 2nd annual ABALONE CAMP
experience from Sunday, June 26 to Tuesday, June 28, 2016. The ABALONE CAMP
package offers avid divers and novices alike a rare
opportunity to dive with some of the most renowned freedive guides in
the region for the prized local delicacy during Northern California’s
peak Abalone Season. The dive will be followed by a demonstration on how
to clean and prepare the collected bounty, culminating in a gourmand
feast prepared by the Inn’s chef.
This two-night experience includes:
Accommodations in an ocean view fireplace room
Brunch and orientation on Sunday, June 26
Welcoming reception on the evening of June 26 for all participating divers complete with delectable passed appetizers and local beer and wine selections
Breakfast on Monday morning
All necessary dive gear and equipment needed for the dive
Two
days of diving with the guides from Triton X (the first day will
include being fitted for wetsuit/gear and getting acquainted with dive
location; day two will consist of the actual Abalone dive lasting up to
three hours)
Bagged lunch for the day of the dive
Assistance with the cleaning, cutting, and pounding of caught abalone
Cooking demonstration and communal dinner of the day’s hunt back at the inn with fellow divers and
guides from Triton X

Package pricing does not include Abalone Diving License. Guests MUST

diver must be donated for the communal dinner, additional abalones
caught the day will be for the diver’s keeps and properly packed for

As part of Mendocino County’s Earth Day events, the Little River Inn is proud to present
”DON’T BE SCARED, IT’S ONLY A REPTILE.”
Held on
Saturday, April 16, from
9 to 11 a.m.,
the program teaches children of all ages all about reptiles and other
creepy crawly critters through an informative presentation by Al Wolf
and friends from the
Sonoma County Reptile Rescue,
based in Sebastopol, CA. Snakes and lizards will be
available to touch, feel, and observe in addition to a host of other
activities and exhibits to explore. Healthy snacks will be provided too!
This event is free and open to inn guests and the general public.
Weekend brunch at the Little River Inn has been a favorite pastime for returning guests and locals alike for years, but MOTHER’S DAY BRUNCH
at the inn is always extra special. The inn welcomes returning families
year after year and also looks forward to introducing new families to
such a unique tradition. This year, Chef Dym is serving
Asparagus and Chicken Crépes (made
with Asparagus Tips and Diced Smoked Chicken rolled in House-made
Crêpes and topped with Tarragon Champagne Velouté Sauce), alongside
other special brunch dishes, fresh fruits, and hand-made pastries.
Mom will also receive a complimentary glass of champagne for everyone.
