Visit Catalina Island: Lloyd's of Avalon

Of course we stopped to get some ice cream while on Catalina Island.  We ended up at Lloyd's of Avalon , where one of the employees told us they source the ice cream from various vendors (so it's not housemade). Cookie Monster Mocha Almond Fudge Bubble Gum Honey Churro I had the Honey Churro, which was a little too sweet for my liking. Everyone else loved the ice cream flavors they chose, however. Visit Osaka: Baby Castella Kotama

We love to just stroll the streets of Japan to see what gems we can find.  One night we were looking for a dessert, and stumbled upon Baby Castella Kotama.  We were lured in by the guy making the baby castella - mini balls of the popular Japanese sponge cake.

They offered it in cinnamon sugar and kinako sugar, as well as with whipped cream and sauces, but we stuck with the original.
They were nice and warm, and not too sweet.

They were an ideal snack on a drizzly night!
